Champions for Children Conference

Join the Dakota Children’s Advocacy Center as we welcome Jimmy Widdifield Jr. to the annual Champions for Children Conference.

Mr. Widdifield is a licensed professional counselor and will speak on what is normal and what may be problematic sexual behavior (PSB) in children, common misconceptions, how we as agencies can better respond and recent research and treatment.

Mr. Widdifield works for the Center on Child Abuse and Neglect at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. He is the co-director of the treatment program for children with PSB and a master trainer of cognitive behavioral therapy models for preschool and school-aged children.

This conference was approved for 6 continuing education credits (CEU) for
social workers, counselors, lawyers and judges. Post credits are pending.

A block of rooms at the Ramada is reserved for those attending the conference at a
federal rate. If you have a state ID, you will be offered the state rate. Reservations must be made before April 6. Call

Parent Café

Where adults can learn the skills needed to become even better caregivers for their children.

The Sanford Health Dakota Children’s Advocacy Center along with the Bismarck Prevention Taskforce present the Parent Café, a series of educational events. These one-hour presentations will focus on relevant topics concerning today’s youth and how caregivers can stay proactive in providing support.

Kids ages 4 and older are encouraged to come. They can participate in our Kids’ Corner which will feature a therapeutic craft integrating the topics of the event in a way kids can understand.

These events are free and open to the public.
